An-oíche ag Tionóil an Bhruaigh Thoir.

A great night at An Bruach Thoir's Community Gathering - 'Meet and Greet' event.

Bhí an teach lán ag an Tionóil Poiblí a d'eagraigh an Bhruach Thoir sa Maldron Hotel ar an 24 Aibreáin.

Bhí trí chuspóir againn:

  1. An pobal a chur ar an eolas maidir leis an obair atá ar bun ag an mBruach Thoir;

  2. Iarradh ar an bpobal a gcuid smaointe agus tuairimí a roinnt linn maidir leis an bpróiseas pleanála teanga sa cheantar.

  3. Daoine a mhealladh le bheith rannpháirteach inár ngníomhaíochtaí agus le cuidiú a thabhairt dúinn. Ag seo thíos, tá cuid de na moltaí a rinne an pobal:

• Tuilleadh ócáidí i nGaeilge (féile, imeachtaí sóisialta, caitheamh aimsire, ciorcal comhrá, ócáidí, ealaíon agus cultúr agus mar sin de).

• Tuilleadh tacaíochtaí agusdo fhoghlaimeoirí/ tuilleadh deiseanna foghlama.

• Ionad Gaeilge sa cheantar.

Bronnadh scoláireachtaí Gaeltachta ar seachtar duine ar an óiche.

ENGLISH VERSION.

We had a full house at our community gathering in the Maldron Hotel on the 24th of April.

The gathering had three aims:

  1. To raise awareness of the work An Bruach Thoir is doing in the Gaeltacht of Galway City East.

  2. To ask the community to share their ideas, opinions and thoughts on growing an Irish language community in the east of the city.

  3. To attract more of the community to participate in our events and to help us re-invigorte Irish in the area.

Here are some of the ideas that came to the fore:

• More social opportunities to speak Irish (events, festival, pastimes, clubs, walks and so on).

• More opportunities for Irish learners (including scholarships, ciorcail comhrá, etc)

• An Irish-language centre in the area.

Seven Irish learners were presented with scholarships on the night.
