Gaeltacht Scholarships 2024


Bhronn an Bruach Thoir scoláireachtaí Gaeilge ar sheachtar foghlaimeoir Gaeilge as Gaeltacht Oirthear Chathair na Gaillimhe ag ócáid in Óstán Maldron ar Bhóthair Átha Chinn Déardaoin seo caite,


Seven aspiring Gaeilgeoirs have been awarded a valuable scholarship by An Bruach Thoir, t The recipients were presented with their scholarships by Councillor Frank Fahey, at our ‘meet and greet’ event at the Maldron Hotel, on the 24th of April.

Bronntar na scoláireachtaí i réimsí éagsúla – do dhaoine fásta, daltaí meánscoile, iad siúd ar mhian leo líofacht a bhaint amach nó ar nuachainteoirí ar mhian leo máistreacht a fháil ar Gaeilge na Lachan, sé sin Gaeilge dhúchasach Gaeltacht Oirthear Chathair na Gaillimhe).

The scholarships were established in 2022 to give Irish learners from the east of the city the opportunity to complete a recognised Irish language course in another Gaeltacht, and to immerse themselves in daily life of an Irish language community. Awards are available to adult learners, secondary school students and advanced speakers of Irish who wish to master the native dialect of the Gaeltacht of Galway city East. Some of the recipients will also spend time practicing and acquiring Irish from a native speaker.

Tá 25 scoláireacht bronnta ar fhoghlaimeoirí ó chuireadh tús leis an scéim i 2022.

Deasún Ó Seanáin (Tír Oileáin) - Scéim Líofacht

Since the establishment of the award in 2022, the scheme has supported nearly 25 Irish learners from the Gaeltacht of Galway City East to pursue their ambitions to become fluent speakers of Irish.
